My favorite thing to do in Atlanta is to try different restaurants. You will often find me in Duluth visiting bakeries or eating Asian fare.
Before nursing school, I was a student at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). I graduated from UAB in 2019 with a degree in Biomedical Sciences. At UAB, I was involved in ovarian cancer research and research improving diet quality in early childhood education centers. Right after graduating from UAB, I entered Emory's AMSN program in May of 2019. I graduated with my BSN in 2020 and I am now in the MSN program, FNP track.
I chose Emory for a number of reasons. First, it had the program that I was interested in- the AMSN. My goal was, and still is, to become an APRN so I can provide care to underserved populations. In addition, Emory is nationally ranked, has many clinical partnerships, is a leader in research, and has faculty that not only cares about your success in the program but also in your future career.
The highlight of nursing school was having the opportunity to go to Jamaica with the Lillian Carter Center. It was one of the best decisions in my life. Over the time we were there, I completed more than 100 physicals on children and adults with various developmental and physical disabilities. After completing our tasks, we were able to spend time with the residents who were all so welcoming. I have never received so many hugs! This experience affirmed that nursing was the right path for me.
